Accelerated Reader encourages students to excel in reading by measuring their reading growth through regular comprehension tests and quizzes at a student’s instructional reading level. At the beginning of the school year, we identify a student’s instructional reading level with a benchmark assessment provided by Accelerated Reader or A.R. Teachers guide students into selecting reading material within their levels and setting goals for achievement. After a student reads a book, that student takes a reading comprehension quiz in the classroom. Students are recognized within the classroom and by the school for reaching their reading goals and special achievements. For more information about how A.R. is implemented in our 2nd grade classroom, please follow the link. To check if a book corresponds to an A.R. quiz, search the book at arbookfind.com.
